NIGHTQUARTER has been announced as the winner of a coveted best live music venue award – in the same week that workmen have been busily dismantling its Helensvale site.
Little remains of the popular venue which was last night named Regional Venue of the Year at the Queensland Music Awards.
Owners Michelle Cristoe and Ian Van der Woude thanked music fans for voting for the venue, which shut its doors on February 1 after a dispute over rent.

“A special thank you to all the amazing musicians we have hosted,” they wrote in a social media post.
“We can’t wait to be back.”
During its three years at Helensvale more than 6,000 music acts performed at NightQuarter, most being sold out gigs.
Pete Murray, Dune Rats, DZ Deathrays, The Cat Empire, Flight Facilities and the Presets have been some of the big names who have performed at the venue.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN FOR GOLD COAST’S INDIE DARLING AMY SHARK
One of the them was Gold Coast’s own Amy Shark, who also took home an award last night in the Singer-Songwriter category.
This is the sixth award the artist has won since the release of her first album — Love Monster — in mid 2018.
It was the second time Nightquarter was short-listed for the best regional venue award, having narrowly missed out to the Sunshine Coast’s Solbar last year.
The Gold Coat’s other live music venue, Miami Marketta, was also nominated.
NightQuarter’s owners have confirmed they are inspecting locations and plan to re-open at a new site by the end of the year.
