Sea World polar bear Mishka celebrates 2nd birthday with fishy-cake
Mishka the polar bear has celebrated her birthday by eating a whole cake made out of fish and watermelon.

MISHKA the Gold Coast polar bear has celebrated her second birthday by eating a whole cake.
Sea World Gold Coast staff threw the fluffy white cub a party, giving Mishka new toys and a cake made out of fish and watermelon to enjoy with her mum Liya.
She has come a long way since birth when she weighed 600 grams — now weighing about 200kgs, and measuring more than 1.5m tall when standing.

Sea World Polar Bear Keeper Nora Tenbrock said Mishka has done exceptionally well under the watchful eye of mother Liya.
“Mishka has become a favourite of Sea World guests and this is a great occasion for us to throw her a wonderful party where she can celebrate with her favourite toys and treats,” she said.

“She loves just about anything we give her, including dried apricots and figs, and her meat and fish. She is not very fussy about those things.”
When she is old enough, Mishka will eventually become a part of the International Polar Bear breeding program.

“The last two years have been very exciting for us keepers, watching her grow and development, learning all the skills she needs to learn from mum,” Ms Tenbrock said.
“She has become a very independent bear now, we see lots of play and interaction with her mum, but also by herself now which is great to see.
“At the moment she will still stay with mum, just to learn all those fine skills that she needs.”
Mishka was one of two cubs born in 2017 to mother Liya, but her sister did not survive.
The mother, Liya, is now 18-years-old.
