A PAW massage might just look like a relaxation tool, but it’s also helping to forge a strong bond and trust between owner and pet.
Four-month-old puppy Ellie and her owner Hannah Norton will learn all the ropes when it comes to paw massages and taking care of a new pet at a free session hosted by MooGoo Skincare headquarters at Burleigh Heads later this month.
Up to 25 pet owners can take part in the day where they will learn how to massage their pet’s paws, keep their pooch clean and listen to advice on grooming.
Ms Norton of Maudsland said she was keen to join the seminar so that she could teach her maltese cross poodle puppy to be comfortable with handling, as she will need to be regularly clipped and groomed as she grows.

“I have heard from a couple of people that massaging their paws was a good way to form bonds early on,” she said.
“And I never thought about what products to use on my dogs.
“I had a dog for 14 years before Ellie and never thought about it … but after having a chat with a lady who said, a lot of people put so much care into what they use on their children, but not into their pets.

“My dog is my child because I have no children, I should be careful what I’m putting on her.”
MooGoo Skincare founder Craig Jones, who also developed the pet range Dr Zoo, said the company originally adapted their skincare range to meet the needs for dogs, who have slightly more acidic skin, after customers used their human products on their pets.
“Dogs in particular suffer from a few skin problems, similar to humans they can suffer from dandruff, called canine seborrhea,” he said.
“That and fungal yeast problems between their legs … can take dog owners by surprise.”
The MooGoo Dr Zoo range uses natural ingredients and are pet safe.
