Dogs are the best pets, which is perfect for Take Your Dog to Work Day

IT’S Take Your Dog to Work Day tomorrow — so we’ve compiled a list of nine reasons why dogs are so awesome. Don’t forget to show it to your boss.

DOGS. Yep, they truly are human’s best friend. Tomorrow it’s Take Your Dog to Work Day — and we totally understand why they should be in the office with us.

In fact, we’ve made a list of why they are so awesome.

From being able to help relieve stress to cheering you up as you work overtime, this is why you should consider taking your pupper to work.

According to the 2016 Petplan Pet Census report, which surveyed 10,000 people, only 23 per cent of us take our pets to work.

Petbarn Area Manager Emily Dwyer said there were a lot of facts to support having an office dog.

“Playing with or petting an animal is shown to increase a person’s levels of the stress reducing hormone oxytocin and decrease production of the stress hormone, cortisol,” she said.

“ … And taking breaks from your desk and getting some fresh air is a great way to re-energise and get those creative juices flowing. A brisk lunchtime walk will help you have a more productive afternoon and keep you bright an alert well past the regular 3pm slouch.”

Of course, your boss needs to have okayed you taking your dog to work and you need to ensure you pack everything they need — dog bed, water, treats, toys and a leash.

WHY WE LOVE DOGS SO MUCH

ONE

Dogs just don’t care how rich you are, what you look like, where you live and who you are. We could all do with being a little more doglike, right?

TWO

They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. There’s a dog out there for everyone!

THREE

You can dress your pup up! Come on, which other animal can you dress up like this? Seriously, tack a bow onto your pooch and sit him next to your desk. Your boss will be wondering how you found such a well-groomed employee. Now, if only he would type faster.

FOUR

They listen to everything you say. Well, nearly everything. Which other creature is so devoted when it comes to cocking an ear and just hearing you out? They don’t even mind that you’ve been complaining about the same problem for the past three hours.

FIVE

They make friends with everybody (bar a few cats). They just don’t seem to mind if you’re a rat, a bird, a deer or a goat.

SIX

They are forgiving. Late night on the town? Forgot to walk them? Didn’t give them a treat for being a ‘good doggo’? Don’t worry about it. Your pupper will forgive and forget. Eventually.

SEVEN

They’re comedians. If you thought Wil Anderson was funny, your dog is always ready to entertain.

EIGHT

Dogs are officially a stress reliever and make you healthier. Did you know by patting a dog, your stress levels go down? And if you have a pet pooch, you are generally healthier and have less sick days at work.

NINE

They are just dogs. Whether they’re snoring on their backs, begging for more pats or wagging their tails, how can you be unhappy when you’ve got a doggo waiting for you at home?
