The mother duck and her young were spotted precariously close to the G: Link light rail tracks on Parklands Dr in Southport.

Rhys Harris filmed the heartwarming venture as he walked past and said the tram had pulled to a halt to avoid hitting the young family.
“I was walking to work next to the tram line and saw that the tram had stopped in the middle of the intersection,” he told the Bulletin.
“A car had also stopped and two people had hopped out to help a family of baby ducklings to cross the road.
“They were too small to jump up over the median strip, so needed a little bit of help!”

Bystanders ushered the ducks to the other side of the road, giving them some gentle encouragement to stay off the road.
A G:link spokesman said the driver was happy to help the feathered damsel in distress.
“While we always urge those crossing the tracks to use designated crossings, our driver was alert and happy to allow the mother duck and family to make their way safely to the other side.”
