GOLD Coasters gathered at the Women in Mining and Resources launch at the Southport Yacht Club on Wednesday December 8.

Minerals exploration company communications director Joanne Bergamin said the organisation now has more than 5000 members across the state with many on the Gold Coast.

“I understand that the Gold Coast is a popular location for FIFO workers around the state, so the local WIMARQ chapter can act as a form of support, not only for the women in the industry but also their partners and families,” she said.

“We all know there’s a real shortage of skilled workers in the industry, which has only been exacerbated by Covid-19, so I wanted to get involved in WIMARQ and contribute to attracting girls and women to the fabulous resources industry.”
