The school bully kept stealing my daughter's lunch, so I took petty revenge

The furious mum took matters into her own hands after the principal didn't seem to care. Now people are saying what she did was "disgusting" and even "illegal."

The deadly dangers of a packed lunch

A mum, driven by desperation and frustration, resorted to an unorthodox method to catch her daughter's lunch thief at school.

After weeks of her daughter's lunches mysteriously disappearing, and getting unhelpful advice from the principal to "keep her lunch safer," the furious mum decided to take matters into her own hands.

Her strategy? Lacing her daughter's lunch with laxatives.

Now she wants to know if she went too far.

The mum's petty revenge

The mum explained in the post, "I brought the issue to her teacher and principal, but they didn't seem to care. Both suggested she might have just been losing it."

So, she devised a strategy and started putting laxatives in her daughter's food.

She then gave her primary schooler some lunch money and told her to keep an eye out for any of her classmates who needed to use the bathroom 'urgently'.

The plan yielded quick results.

A boy named Billy* rushed to the toilet straight after lunch, she said.

And over a few days, the pattern repeated, confirming the mum's suspicions.

Suggestions flood in for the mum

However, the plot thickened when Billy told his mum that he had been deliberately fed food with laxatives.

Now, her daughter is facing potential suspension, so the mum took to the forum to ask for advice.

One mum suggested, "Tell the school there were laxatives in the food because she has been constipated and that it is unfortunate Billy ate the food - but that people need to explain to him that eating other people's food is unsafe."

Another advised tackling the issue from a different angle, "Ask the mother why Billy needs your daughter's food. Tell them she never would have given it to him because of the laxatives."

Then some commenters advised against admitting to the laxative tactic: "The medical stuff is none of their concern. Just tell them you didn't permit him to take the food - and that your daughter went hungry without it."

"You're publicly admitting to poisoning a child"

The post also sparked a heated debate about the morality, legality and safety of the mum's actions.

"It is illegal to knowingly poison another kid. I'm not even sure you can have unlabeled medicine in a school lunch," a fellow parent wrote.

"Regardless of behaviour, poisoning a child is neither morally nor legally okay," chimed in a second.

And a third wrote, "So you are publicly admitting that you intentionally poisoned a child? I’m not saying that taking your daughter’s lunch is okay, but poisoning a child is also not okay. As they teach kids, two wrongs don’t make a right. They can press charges against you."
