'Pregnancy tired is NOT the same as newborn baby tired'

"Don't let them scare you."

What NOT to do when you're expecting!

A mother has taken to Tik Tok with a brutal truth for mums in the final weeks of pregnancy

It might come as reassurance amid the continual warnings of ‘Think you’re tired now? Just you wait for the baby to come.’

Mum Mani welcomed a newborn, just over three months ago, and she says that threat couldn’t be further from reality.

"I’m tired for sure, but it’s not the same as pregnancy tired"

“Pregnancy tired is NOT the same as newborn baby tired,” she writes on the video

“If you’re pregnant right now and tired, like exhausted, but you’re worried about being even more tired when your baby gets here - because everyone’s telling you like ‘oh get used to it,’” she starts.

“Don’t listen to them.

“I didn’t get any sleep last night. I’m tired for sure, but it’s not the same as pregnancy tired."

She says there’s some very clear differences.

“When you’re pregnancy tired you can’t do anything. You have no control over your body. You can’t help but sleep,” she explains.

“But when you're newborn baby tired you’re sleepy, but you’re up! Like you ‘re functionally sleepy.”

She offers some sound advice, while the small feet of her bubba happily kick beside her.

“It gets better. Don’t let them scare you,” she insists.

While she might not have gotten any sleep, she’s able to enjoy the bliss of her baby - a big bonus you don’t get through the exhaustion of carrying a baby.

“Now I’m up playing, and I’m talking, and I’m getting kicked in the face and I’m changing poopy diapers, and I’m talking in baby language,” she lists off the positives.

"My husband can take the brunt work and I can take a nap"

Most of the comment section agreed with her.

“Pregnancy tired is 24/7 and you can’t pass it off to anyone. Like my husband can take the brunt work and I can take a nap,” one person added.

“100% this is true. I’m tired, but I could sit here and stare at her sleeping all day,” shared one new mum.

However, others weren’t convinced.

“No. I would take pregnancy tired over newborn tired any day of the week. Having to take care of a newborn while sleep deprived is actually horrifying,” came one disagreement.

“I’m 100% opposite. I’m tired but I can sleep all night, take naps, rest when I need to. With a baby, there is no sleep and no resting or naps when needed,” another argued.

Australian Government website Pregnancy, birth and baby blames fatigue toward the end of a pregnancy on carrying the extra weight and difficulty to sleep.

“It’s important to eat a healthy diet when you’re pregnant. If you’re tired, you should try to rest as much as you can. This could mean sitting with your feet up, asking for help with household chores or going to bed earlier,” they advise.

Those who are concerned by exhaustion should see their medical professional.
