‘Never been so sick in my life’: Woman’s revolting find in ALDI jar sauce
“I poured the sauce into my stir-fry and this thing plopped out in a big chunk, right in the middle of my vegetables,” the horrified woman said in a viral TikTok.

Sidney Bessant typically doesn’t eat curry sauce from a jar, but her local ALDI was sold out of her usual green-curry-paste-and-coconut-milk-go-to, so she compromised.
That night she started cooking dinner, frying off the chicken, followed by the vegetables, and the sauce.
She wrestled the lid off the jar – it was on tighter than she expected – and poured the sauce into the pan.
“Something looked a bit weird about the sauce, but I poured it in,” she said in a viral TikTok.
“A big chunk of mould fell out,” she said, showing a spoon holding a large clump of mould encased in brown-coloured green curry sauce.
“This big chunk… “ she paused to gag and cough a couple of times and then trailed off. “It’s all over the lid, all over the rim, the jar is just filled with mould.
“The shelf life is until July next year.
“Don’t mind me I will not be eating dinner tonight. I have never felt so sick in my life.”

Woman finds clump of mould inside ALDI sauce
The next day, Sidney wrapped the offending jar of sauce in a plastic bag and returned it to ALDI.
She said the shop didn’t seem especially interested, but refunded her money.

“I showed her a photo of the mould chunks sitting on the spoon,” Sidney said.
“She gagged, and so did the guy who refunded my money.
“I didn’t really care about the refund, I just wanted them to know about mouldy s**t sitting on their shelves.”
Sidney also responded to anyone who suggested it was an issue with the seal.
“I couldn’t get that lid off for the life of me last night.”

“I had exactly the same problem with the same sauce!” one woman said.
“This one time I bought six kilograms of chicken breast for a monthly shop from ALDI and every single package I opened to separate smelled like literal rotting chicken,” said another.

Others had had similar experiences with cheese.
“I once bought Red Leicester cheese from ALDI, when I went to use it a couple of days later, it was filled with mould,” one woman said.

“First time I bought cheese from ALDI, full mouldy, didn’t know until I ate half the bag,” said another.
But not everyone was sympathetic.
“This 100 percent your fault. You didn’t check it before you purchased,” one person said.
