'Jaw on floor': Mum shares rogue hack to get baby's head shaved

Parents Tiffany and Caleb Remington have posted a clip of a genius baby hair cut hack that will be a game changer for anyone struggling in a salon.

Well, maybe not anyone...

Just those still breastfeeding, because that's an integral part of the hack.

"Giving our son his first haircut"

The video shows the influencer couple in their bedroom with their 12-month-old son. The baby is in a highchair, facing mum, as she records the moment, and dad uses clippers to neaten the fine hair for the first time.

Oh, and Tiffany is also breastfeeding.

Everyone seems relaxed, with the multi-tasking working a treat to get the baby to sit still.

Tiffany captions the clip, "Couldn’t do this distraction method at a salon so figured us cutting his hair would be best."

It's certainly one 'distraction method' that is rarely seen in action, and viewers found it inspiring.

"Gotta do what we have to"

Parents related to the challenge of getting kids to sit still long enough for the haircut to not be a shambles.

"That’s hilarious. We gotta do what we have to sometimes," said one viewer, and with this parent adding, "I love your attachment parenting style. Your children will grow up secure and happy."

Tiffany went into the thread to joke, "The melons saved the day!"

There was also a professional who loved the trick: "As a hairstylist, I wish I could have clients do this in a salon, such a good idea."

Tiffany responded with this confession, "Honestly I don’t want to know what his hair would have looked like if we didn’t do this."

Some viewers thought the hack could also be used when baby's nails were being cut.

But there's always at least one who plays it cool, such as this mum, who wrote, "The barber just gives my son a few combs to play with."

Well, we're glad that works for you, Tory31128. Other parents, like Caleb and Tiffany, have to get a bit more creative.

One thing's for sure: the clip shows a special bonding moment, teamwork, and happy memories of a first haircut. Add a sentimental song playing, you just might tear up at a stranger's child getting the chop on TikTok. 

Or maybe that's just me, whose child's first cut was 17 years ago...
