Influencer sparks debate by changing her child’s birthday
A famous Sydney mother has a radical solution to a problem faced by many families in December, but it has left fans divided.
A popular Australian influencer has made a dramatic call about her daughter’s birthday, one that has caused a bitter divide among parents.
Mum-of-three, Indy Clinton, said she has decided to celebrate her youngest child’s birthday to December 12, stating the actual date Soul was born was “too close to Christmas”.
But while some think a December baby means double the celebration during the festive season, other families argued it is a logistical nightmare.
Sydney mum Clinton however has a relatable fix that she won’t be swayed on, taking to TikTok to explain the move.
“I was actually gonna ask you guys for your opinion on something, but I’ve already made up my mind, so I may as well just tell you because I don’t need your opinion,” the 28-year-old said in a recent video.
“As a mother, it made me think, why don’t more people do this? Because I actually can’t genuinely think of any reasons why this would be a bad thing.”
According to NSW Births, Deaths and Marriages, there is no legal way to formally change your date of birth.
But the influencer says no one truly needs to know the precise time she was brought into the world, it’s just a day of celebration.
“She was actually just too close to Christmas for my liking. I just thought going forward, she’s never going to know we’ve officially changed it,” Clinton shared.
“So she wasn’t born on that day, but honestly, nobody else needs to know. I know she slipped, slopped, slapped out of me on that day.”

The mother believes the pros far outweigh the cons.
“I don’t know why more people don’t do it? Genuinely. Am I crazy? No! I don’t actually think I’m crazy,” she argued.
“I think it’s really smart and nobody else has thought of it.”
Many were totally on-board with the idea.
“As someone born in December (the 15th), I think the 12th is still too close. From personal experience. If you’re going to move it, move it all the way back to November,” came one suggestion.
“As someone born on the 22nd Dec, please PLEASE change it!!! These damn combined presents will be the death of me,” another agreed.
A third added: “Feels! As a 32-year-old woman, I changed my birthday from 30th December to middle of the year.”
However, others urged her to reconsider due to the complications that may arise for the child.
One user urged, “Do not do this, Indy. She’s gonna have to fill out official forms when she’s older and not know her freaking bday.”
To which Clinton responded: “We will meet that crossroad when it comes.”
“On her 18th birthday, she won’t be able to celebrate and go out cause it won’t match her ID,” another pointed out.
The influencer cheekily wrapped up the post, poking fun at the attention she anticipated garnering from the revelation.
“I just didn’t want your attention being taken away. You’re welcome,” she said.
