"I absolutely hate my baby's name"

The woman, 28, shared: "I hate my baby's name.

"I have just given birth about a month ago to a healthy baby boy, and I absolutely hate his name.

She added that her boyfriend, Emmett, whom she has been with for five years and intends to marry, was overjoyed when they found out that she was pregnant.

"Once I began talking about family, he immediately bombarded me with names that he would name our BOY.

"I too had ideas, which he quickly shut down (he had no preference for girls). He began to list names that belonged to grandpa and great-grandpa, Oliver and Chad.

"I HATE the name Chad, we know a couple of Chads, they are not great people. I also don't love the name Oliver but I'd rather that than Chad."

The woman explained that Emmett “Was adamant on the name Chad because it belonged to his dad’s grandpa, whom his dad has never met due to the war.

"I asked him to compromise and make Chad the middle name because I'd rather Oliver. He’d say maybe but with a 'no' tone."

The new mum said that after the birth, she waited until she was "relaxed" before she signed the birth certificate - which her partner had already officially set as Chad Beau Smith.

"I had no say in that name whatsoever."

After 13 hours of labour, the mum says she was "too tired to fight."

She finishes, "He smirked as he handed his birth certificate in. I felt like I just needed to focus on taking care of my baby.

"Now it’s been a month I’ve been avoiding saying his name. I can’t bring myself to call him Chad. I also didn’t post anything on social media because I just hate the name.

"I'm disconnecting from this relationship because after all that Emmett has watched me go through, I feel that I don’t matter.”

"This will cost you your relationship"

Commenters on the mum's post were appalled on her behalf.

One person advised: "You can have it changed. It’s not too late."

Another added, "This will cost you your relationship but realistically you’re heading that way anyway."

A third commented, "Wow! He’s awful! If it was me, I would change his name and leave his a**."

This commenter was much more brutal: "It’s time to grow a backbone, my love. Red flags are waving in your face big time!

"He took advantage of you right after you gave birth, and he did it with a smile on his face. I’d reconsider getting married to this man."
