'Hurtful' reason why this photo is causing outrage

“If my husband had shown up dressed like that, I would have turned the car around, gone home, and changed the locks.”

Mother-of-the-bride dress sparks heated debate

A man has caused outrage online after showing up to his own wedding in a t-shirt, basketball shorts, and sneakers.

The unidentified man’s wife posted the photos on Facebook, showing her in a nice white dress while standing next to her severely underdressed husband.

“Today was MY day!!!,” the woman wrote.

“We did it … 13 years later and I married my forever partner.”

Naturally, the internet found the photos and roasted the dude for dressing like a “middle schooler on the way to gym.

“Ugh, I tried so hard not to judge, but after 13 years together you’d think the groom could put in a little more effort,” a person wrote on a viral Reddit post.

“This is giving ‘I begged him to propose for a literal decade and he only finally agreed when I gave him an ultimatum’,” another person wrote in response.

“Literally, I’d be so hurt if my partner made it so obvious that he wasn’t putting even an iota of effort into the wedding day.”

"At least make the minimum effort"

Some people couldn’t believe the photos were actually of a wedding.

“He looks like he just wandered in off the street,” one person wrote. “‘Oh hey, need a groom? Sign me up’.

“At least make the minimum effort. Gross.”

“I wouldn’t have married him,” another person wrote.

“If my husband had shown up dressed like that, I would have turned the car around, gone home, and changed the locks.”

“She looks ethereal and he looks like he’s going to BMX,” a third person wrote. “I hope he puts more effort into their marriage than he did that outfit.”

"He doesn't care about clothes, but he cares about me"

Unfortunately, it seems like this man’s attire isn’t necessarily uncommon, just hopefully not at weddings.

“I play this game where I go out to eat at nice spots on weekends for dinner, and I judge all the couples where the woman looks amazing and wonderful, and the man looks like he just finished playing basketball at the YMCA,” one person wrote.

“I usually sit with my partner at a coffee shop, park or similar, and actually do a game of counting the number of ‘he’s never seen her without a nice outfit and sensible makeup, and she’s stuck with a man who only wears clothes bought for him by his mother,” another person wrote.

“This is me and my man on the day to day,” a third woman wrote. “I like clothes and he really doesn’t.

“When we go somewhere nice, he at least puts some damn pants on, but he dresses like Adam Sandler typically.

“Honestly, it drove me crazy for a long time, and I have over time gotten him to upstate his wardrobe and dress appropriately.

“He doesn’t care about clothes, but he cares about me.”
