‘Horrific’: Dad and two children die after being hit by 4WD outside Toowoomba

#UPDATE The two kids were sitting in the back seat when a ute rear-ended them, crushing the back of the car on Monday morning.

The three victims killed in a horrific crash northeast of Toowoomba have been identified as a dad and his two children.

Emergency services arrived at the scene at Dalby-Janowae Road outside Dalby at 10:50am on Monday, responding to calls that four passengers of a sedan were in a critical condition.

Tragically, the father and two children died at the scene, while the adult female passenger of the sedan was airlifted by helicopter to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with critical injuries to her arm, chest and abdomen.

It’s understood that the four people were “heavily” entrapped in the car after a 4WD ute ploughed into the rear of the vehicle.

Dalby Patrol Group Inspector Greg Wheeler called the scene “horrific” and acknowledged the tragedy that children were involved.

“Whenever there is children involved it is extra traumatic,” he said.

“You know, a family basically here one minute, not the next. It’s very difficult to fathom how it’s actually occurred.”
