A child has reportedly been sexually assaulted at knifepoint by a man at a park near Mt Druitt train station.
The 33-year-old man will face court today after being charged by Sex Crimes Squad detectives for sexually assaulting a child at a park in Sydney’s west.

Child allegedly sexually assaulted at knifepoint
Police allege the 33-year-old man approached the child, who was waiting for a train at 1:15 AM on Thursday, 15 August, before leading them away to a local park.
NSW Police allege the offender threatened them with a knife before sexually assaulting them, then fleeing the scene in a white van.

The State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad launched an investigation into the incident, dubbed Strike Force Blaina.
Following an extensive investigation, the detectives arrested the man at 6:20pm on Tuesday on a street in Mt Druitt.
The 33yo was subsequently taken to Mt Druitt Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated sexual intercourse with a child between 10 and 14 and intentionally sexually touching a child between 10 and 16.

He was refused bail and will face Mt Druitt Local Court today.
Detective Superintendent Jayne Doherty, Sex Crimes Squad Commander, has urged the community to remain vigilant and keep an eye out for anything suspicious.
“I want to continue to urge the community to stay vigilant and look out for children,” said Doherty.

“If you’re a victim of sexual violence, please reach out to police or support services. You will be supported during this difficult time," she added.
“If you decide to report your assault to police, we will support and walk beside you on your journey.”
