Cheeky Dad insists 11yo daughter is just eight to get discount at restaurant

"This is standard parenting practice - though she looks 22." Would you argue with the waitress like this? 

Desperate times call for desperate measures, right? 

We're in a cost-of-living crises, and every dollar matters. 

Which is why this dad pulled out one of the oldest tricks in the parenting budget book this week when he took his daughter out for a meal. 

Dushawn Thomas (@dushawnthomas) recorded his 11-year-old daughter lying about her age - cheekily encouraged by him - to receive a discount on their bill. 

He posted the clip to TikTok where it's attracted more than 3.5 million views - and you're about to see exactly why.

"She knows what to say"

In the clip, a waitress clearing their table puts down the bill, but Thomas tells her, "She's not an adult," referring to his daughter's age. "She's a kid."

The waitress doesn't fall for it, and says, "No, no, how old?"

Calmly holding firm, the dad pans to his tween daughter, who confirms to the waitress that she's eight years old - which qualifies her to be charged as a child.

It is brilliant acting on everyone's part, as the confused waitress finally accept the age, and moves to adjust the bill.

Thomas proudly writes in the text overlay, "I love my daughter she already knows what to say, mind you, she's 11."

Yes, it's an old trick, but the best part of this one is how the girl looks more like 18 than eight - but Thomas still managed to save a few extra dollars.

It's inspired parenting (and lying).

Viewers were impressed with the daughter's poker face as she lied.

"She's eight with a straight face," one said.

Another commented, "She's done this before!"

Many observed that the girl looks beyond her 11 years, let alone being able to pass for eight. As one said, "She looks 22."

Some viewers admired Thomas for the rouse with her daughter, noting it would be a "bonding" experience, while others were concerned about the dad teaching her to lie "to save $3."

Finally, many viewers shared that their parents did this, too.

"My mum always made us lie," recalled one.

"We used to rehearse before we got out of the car," added a second.

Finally, there was a comment from these hustlers: "My ex-husband and I did this all the time to our kids. Later, we started saying we were pensioners."
