‘A woman changed her baby’s nappy while sitting in the plane seat behind me’

“Didn't bother taking him to the bathroom even though she was one row up from the very back of the plane, right near it,” frustrated John writes.

TikTok mum pleads with passengers to have patience with babies on planes

John* had packed his bags and was ready to head home.

He had just been on a beautiful holiday, but sadly, it ended. The American man headed to the airport and waited for his flight, which was scheduled for 10pm.

The aeroplane arrived for his flight, so John* grabbed his carry-on and headed to his assigned seat, ready to fly home and return to reality once again.

“The baby on the plane was sh*tting his pants regularly”

Settling into his spot for the four-hour flight, he thought he could enjoy a little bit of peace and quiet, but a loud noise ripped him back to the real world

Turning around, he noticed it was a toddler, who was flailing and wiggling all over as his mum tried to calm him down.

He sighed and turned back around, hoping the baby would eventually settle before the plane took off.

But John was wrong; things only got increasingly worse.

First, the seat behind him overflowed with “incoherent toddler babble” and “yelling”, eventually leading to the toddler “getting all worked up at various points” and ”kicking the seat,” he told Reddit.

John was becoming increasingly frustrated with the commotion behind him. Soon the baby was “sticking his feet up on my armrest,” but he let it slide, as it’s likely something everyone has experienced at least once, even if they’re child-free.

But that was just the beginning.

According to the irritated passenger, the 2yo was “sh*tting his pants regularly,” leaving the mum no choice but to change his nappy.

“Mum changed his diaper three times in the seat,” the horrified man wrote. “Didn't bother taking him to the bathroom even though she was one row up from the very back of the plane, right near it.”

“It stunk like hell.”

John was in utter disbelief, and things were only made worse when he started hearing another squeal from the plane.

“There was also a baby in another seat piping up screaming on occasion,” he wrote.

Another passenger “had a puppy on the plane” but he was the quietest of all, making “zero fuss” as they continued soaring through the skies.

“Perfect little angel,” he said. “Maybe he had had a sedative.”

The four-hour flight was too much for John to handle, warning other parents they should have certain rules and restrictions for parents.

“These parents should either sedate their damn kids or just not be allowed to bring them on certain flights,” he wrote, irate. “Good lord.”

“Isn’t changing a diaper in a plane some sort of biohazard?”

Understandably, the thought of someone changing a nappy on a full aeroplane sent everyone into a tizzy.

“I feel like changing a diaper in a plane is some sort of biohazard?” read a shocked comment.

Others coudn’t understand why child-free flights weren’t more popular with airlines.

“Why are people even taking babies or young children on planes?” wrote a child-free person. “My parents didn’t take me on a plane until I was 12 and could behave.”

“I'd pay almost double for a child-free flight,” added another. “I don't blame the kids, I blame the parents.”

But many people disagreed. “It should be the other way around, parents should be paying double,” wrote an irritated person.

“I shouldn’t be the one paying for someone else’s poor choices,” another agreed.

Some shared why they think child-free flights should be a wider option.

“I was on a twelve-hour flight in a middle row of three with a toddler with a cold. Yep, snotty nose, crying, grabby hands and the whole nine yards,” a person said.

“Two days later I was sick as a dog, missed my vacation and couldn’t work the whole time I was there. All because little Snotleigh was next to me and I couldn’t get away.”
