A nurse and adult content creator has revealed how she has struggled to find love with someone her own age — but has men in their 20s lying about how old they are for a chance with her.

Hayli Hooper, 38, has been single for six years but has found there are “no suitable options” when it comes to guys her age.

“I’ve been single for six years and some of my friends are telling me I need to lower my standards, but why? Everything I want in a partner is what I am and what I offer,” she said.

She said she wants someone who is financially secure, independent, has a love of travel and has a level of spontaneity about them. She said she wanted someone who was intelligent, set up and fit.

She also said she doesn’t want to have to quiet or change her personality in order to find love, saying the older she gets the more she doesn’t care if people like her.

But, instead, she’s finding men her age are judgmental, have recently gone through divorce or have a “foot in the grave” and feels like she doesn’t have a lot in common with them.

And, just because they’re older, it doesn’t mean their maturity level is there. For instance, Hayli was casually seeing a 31-year-old for a while but when she saw him in a club he pretended not to know her.

The Western Australian woman said she knows a lot of independent and successful women in not only her age bracket but older who experience the same thing, and also opt for younger men.

“I’ve just had a lot of young guys come up to me. I guess because I don’t have kids at the moment or because of the work I do, I just have a fun energy,” she said.

“The young guys come up to me and literally lie about their age to try and (be with) me. But, at least they’re interesting and they’ve got stamina.”

She said they want to go out, dance and bring a sexual energy and youthfulness. This is in contrast to men closer to her own age, who she said have baggage and are quite narcissistic.

“They’re a huge coward aspect with dating — and it gets even worse — like ghosting. If I don’t vibe with someone after the first date, I will tell them straight away,” she said.

“But older guys avoid that conversation and just disappear. I’m so over it. Younger guys are more honest and more fun.”

There is a downside to dating younger — these men aren’t in a position emotionally where Hayli would feel comfortable taking the next step with them. In particular, those in the 19 to 23 age range.

But, for those that are still a little younger than her — around the 27 and 28-year-old mark — and starting to get their life together, she’d be open to settling down seriously with them.

“There was a period of about a year where everyone I met or interacted with was 27, and that is the age where they start to get houses and careers. Absolutely I would,” she said.

She said for them, a lot of women her age can hold a conversation and have drive but women their age are glued to social media and can be a little “vapid”.

Hayli joked that she was living the life most men her age would want to live.
