An Australian woman has shared her stunning weight loss transformation that saw her lose 24kg and get her life back.

Back in July 2023, Dils Lee felt like she had hit rock bottom after reaching her heaviest weight of 87kg, while she was also donning size 16 clothes.

While the 28-year-old says there is nothing wrong with being that size, it had a dramatic impact on the way it made her feel both physically and mentally.

But now, less than a year later, the Central Coast, NSW, woman has turned her life around after dropping an incredible 24kg and three dress sizes after a simple change.

“It just got to a point where I was sick of waking up and feeling horrible, sore and uncomfortable in my body,” Ms Lee told news.com.au.

“I had seen a post on Instagram that said if you were not an active person but were with a partner that was active, the inactive partner was likely to die seven years before the active partner.

“This really scared me, because my husband is a super fit and active person and I hated the thought of me not being around because I didn’t take care of myself and my body.

“I genuinely feel that this completely altered my mindset and approach to weight loss. Not just to look better, but to be healthy, and be alive as long as possible with my husband.”

When she was at her heaviest, Ms Lee said her moods were low, she felt sluggish, run down and was in pain all the time.

She desperately wanted to get her life back after gaining weight throughout the pandemic, but had no idea where to start.

But after she began simply walking with a friend during their coffee runs instead of sitting in the cafe, she noticed a huge change.

She began losing weight and before long, she fell in love with movement, even attending fitness HIIT classes five times a week.

In six months, Ms Lee had dropped an incredible 17kg, but felt like she was stuck in a plateau and was not able to lose any more weight.

That is when she decided to reach out to a nutritionist, Lily Cook, who helped her prioritise her nutrition goals and saw her begin a low carb, high protein diet.

With this change, she managed to drop another 7kg and achieve the toned physique of her dreams.

“I started walking most mornings with my friend to get a coffee,” she said.

“I really loved it. Then one day, while we got a coffee on our walk, we met some people that had just finished a HIIT gym class next door and they suggested that we come along.

“We took them up on the offer. After my free trial, I signed up and would go multiple times a week, I absolutely loved it.

“The trainer there, Shauna, made it feel like a community. It was so much fun.

“I also stuck to a calorie deficit, and later reached out to a nutritionist for help with this.

“I started Lily’s program in Jan 2024, by eating a low carb and high protein diet, focusing on hitting macros and being in a deficit.

“I aimed to hit 12,000 steps each day and did three low impact weight sessions per week. Between Jan and April, I went from from 70kg to 63.8kg.”

Ms Lee explained that she could never truly understand why she struggled to slim down in the past, despite various attempts to eat healthy and exercise more.

After going to her doctor, it was discovered she was actually insulin resistant and suffered from hormonal imbalances, which made it difficult for her to lose weight.

“I have always struggled with weight ever since I was about 8 years old,” she said.

“I always felt like the bigger child. It wasn’t really until I was in my teens that I realised I can eat the same meals as everyone else but would gain weight and they wouldn’t.

“I’d tried so many fad diets and would always try to be active but would eventually give up because I wasn’t seeing any progress.

“This started years of investigations with medical professionals to get to the bottom of what was happening in my body to cause me to gain weight quickly and easily, as well as struggle to lose weight when dieting and exercising.

“Finally after visiting multiple GPs, I was diagnosed with insulin resistance and hormonal imbalances. I felt let down by them, as I was just sent away and told to lose weight.

“They didn’t offer any real advice. I knew I had to figure it out on my own at that point.”

After losing 24kg, Ms Lee says she feels happier and healthier than ever before, both in her body and mind.

“I feel amazing now, I have seen so many positive changes to my health in every aspect,” she beamed.

“Mentally, I am clearer, and I feel I have better strategies to manage my anxiety. I have seen basically all my symptoms of insulin resistance and hormonal imbalances get under control.

“I’m continuing to lose weight each week, my menstrual cycle is now regular, my hormonal acne has cleared and I no longer bloat after every meal.”

She also offered advice to anyone looking to get into better shape.

“Find an activity you love to help get you started or back into fitness,” she said.

“This was the HIIT class for me. I enjoyed going with a friend and being able to follow along.

“For others, it might be walking, or kayaking or footy. Just any movement that gets you active consistently.

“I’d also strongly recommend speaking to a nutritionist or dietitian, because they can come up with a plan that will work for you as an individual that supports your needs and goals.”
