Co-owner Kat Creasey said her team was working with Gold Coast City Council to “revitalise the space”.

“It’s the first one, it’s our trial market to see what the locals think,” she said.

“Carrara’s not far from Nerang but a lot of people won’t travel there to come to an event. A lot of people are commenting online thinking it’s the new NightQuarter because they were offered the same space.

“We’re trying to tell people we’re different from them, we just pop up then pack down and leave. Regularity seems to be killing markets so this way our foodies get a whole new crowd every time.”

Among the almost two dozen vendors attending the market is Karenn Frieberg, who runs children’s clothing brand Gravel & Lace with her daughter.

“The event itself is family oriented, which is really good for our business,” she said.

“The kids get a buzz out of it as well. (My grandsons) want to see the fireworks, the older one said ‘Nanny, we only see that at Christmas time’.”
