Nerang RSL staff get chance at Bond University dream through new scholarship
She arrived on the Glitter Strip with just a box and a plastic bag 10 years ago and she’s worked tirelessly since then. Now a new scholarship is giving this woman a chance to go even further.

WHEN Bianca Daley moved to the Gold Coast 10 years ago she had nothing but a plastic bag, a box and the shoes on her feet.
The 29-year-old is now off to Bond University to start a degree in business, the first recipient of a new scholarship.
For Ms Daley, who had never even considered going to university, the tap on the shoulder was one she never expected.
“Early this year I got a promotion to senior steward, and then out of the blue my boss came over and said, ‘what do you think about studying?’” she said.
“I told him I hadn’t studied in a very long time, I haven’t been to school since 2007, and he said ‘that’s OK, you’re smart enough’.”

The new program partners with Nerang RSL to grant scholarships to their indigenous employees, allowing them to further their career while continuing work.
Ms Daley is preparing to start her Diploma in Business Management in January.
Nerang RSL general manager Andrew McInnes said the partnership put a focus on culture, growth and a long-term vision for the club.
“Part of that (focus) is ensuring our staff are growing and excelling with us. Our long-serving employees are our greatest assets and well and truly the heart of the club.”
