IT’S still six weeks from opening but getting a stall at Helensvale’s NightQuarter markets is the hottest ticket in town, with more than 95 per cent of berths already filled.

The countdown is on for the opening of the Gold Coast’s answer to Brisbane’s Eat Street Markets, with thousands of people expected to attend the opening night on November 28.

BEST OF THE GOLD COAST: MARKETS

The first shipping containers which will make up the precinct will arrive at the 1ha site next to Helensvale Town Centre in coming days, ready to host more than 120 vendors,

Among them will be Biggera Waters husband and wife team Bronwyn and Michael Lind who secured one of the coveted spots soon after entries opened.

The couple, who started their dairy company White Gold Creamery earlier this year, are already working to develop their products ahead of launch night.

Mrs Lind said she hoped the markets would help establish the northern Gold Coast as a viable events destination.

“Our business is the culmination of more than eight years of dreaming and to get a spot at the markets which are just down the road from us is just fabulous,” she said.

“Having something like this will really help put the north on the map and support local businesses which will make a big difference.”

Among the few remaining spots yet to be filled at the NightQuarter site are for a beautician, nail artist, masseur and additional fashion outlets.

Market bosses say the precinct has created more than 300 jobs, including 50 staff directly employed to run the international food, retail and music precinct.

The open-air markets will have eight precincts focusing on different foods and wares as well as a performance venue called the paddock which could host up to 2000 people.

It will include themed microbars, buskers and street performers, fashion, local produce and tapas.

It will have a particular focus on street foods.

NightQuarter will open every Friday and Saturday night from 4pm-10pm.
