BIBS at the ready, the newest seafood craze to hit the Gold Coast opened its doors today.
King Crab Co, located at Marina Mirage, is an American-style crab den set to make a cracking impression on the Gold Coast dining scene with its fun, casual and messy approach to fresh seafood — bibs and fingers are encouraged.
Renowned for their take on the classic Louisiana-style boiled crab, this is the second King Crab Co store in Australia after the concept was launched in Brisbane earlier this year.
GOLD COAST WOMEN OF THE YEAR — NOMINATE SOMEONE NOW
King Crab Co co-owner Karl Daniel says his team have taken on everything they have learned from the Brisbane restaurant and refined it for the Gold Coast launch, including the appointment of a new executive chef Jason Anderson who will spearhead the new concept.

“Jason understands the style of food that we are going for at King Crab Co and his presentation, flare and execution is artistic and on point,” says Mr Daniel.
“There is nothing like King Crab Co on the Gold Coast, we are going to deliver a whole different take on seafood.”
The Gold Coast menu’s key point of difference is the brand’s signature crab offering, which will be available two ways, either as the traditional ‘crab in a bag’ or chilled on ice.
The crabs will come from all over the world including Alaskan King and Snow crab, Australian Blue Swimmers, Fraser Island Spanner Crab and Jonah Crab Claws, ranging from $38 to $75 per half kilo.

For those who aren’t a fan of crab, there is also a live oyster shuck bar, woodfired pizzas, burgers, chicken and beef and a full bar for waterfront Moet Hennessy and refreshing spritzes.
King Crab Co is tipped as a “pop-up” in that it is expected to only be around for six months.
