HOOTERS is going bust up.
While the Gold Coast establishment is still trading, it has gone into voluntary administration this week only months after employees claimed that the Australian franchises of the US restaurant chain were not paying them superannuation.
It joins three of the restaurants in Sydney and one in Townsville that have gone belly up.
Deloitte Restructuring Services were appointed voluntary administrators of a number of companies that trade Hooters restaurants in Australia, including the Surfers Paradise restaurant.
The initial creditors meeting will be held on July 27 to discuss the fate of the business.
Michael Billingsley, Deloitte Restructuring Services partner running the engagement, said at this stage it was still “business as usual”.

“It’s very early days as far as our involvement in these businesses is concerned,” he said.
“For now, all restaurants in NSW and Queensland are trading normally while we begin investigating the performance of each business and determine next steps.
“We expect to commence marketing the businesses for sale shortly with a view to selling as a going concern to maintain employment for staff and ongoing trading for suppliers.”
Hooters Surfers Paradise phone number listed on its website is disconnected.
Hooters restaurant in Mermaid Beach was burnt down in early 2011, while the Surfers Paradise one only opened late last year.
