It has to be the ultimate girls’ night in: a five-star sleepover, fine dining in a robe and French wine on speed dial.
Gold Coast celebrity-magnet The Langham has launched a Ring for Rosé package, which I’m taking for a whirl with one of my best friends.
The pretty proposition invites guests to summon a bottle of Whispering Angel Rosé at their whim, adding the label’s blush branding to its already sumptuous suites.
It’s a fit for the hotel’s hallmark pink, a legacy from The Langham London that echoes from the roses at reception to branded water bottles on bedside tables.
We leave our husbands at home, happy to sit out an imagined scenario of pink wine and pillow fights. They realise their mistake when they see our suite on FaceTime.
For the record, this staycay spoil is just as suited to a couple’s pamper. Brownie points guaranteed.
While the package can be booked in your residence of choice, our scene is set in a junior ocean suite.
A generous 67sq m, this room really knows how to make an entrance.
The first swipe of our key card triggers the big view reveal, motorised sheers and blinds sweeping back to unveil an unobstructed seascape.
Suspended above the pool, our open balcony on level nine is at just the right height to capture a Glitter Strip panorama, rolling from the people-watching potential of the Oceanway to the waves. I want to come back in whale season.
There’s a second surprise in the palatial marble bathroom where a princess-worthy bath takes centrestage.
The huge, round tub could fit four – but it’s the ultimate indulgence for one.
A roomy rain shower, Diptyque toiletries and rock-star makeup mirror lighting are the support acts.
The suite also boasts a Nespresso Vertuo Next coffee pod machine, smart room lighting you can reach from bed, and individually controlled airconditioning.
The Langham Blissful Bed, angled at the blue view, is just right for this Goldilocks – not too hard and not too soft, with a suitably squishy pillow among the stack.
We waste no time in giving our package’s perks a spin, using the room phone to ring for rosé.
A tap on the door signals the arrival of our bottle bearer with pink Whispering Angel trolley in tow, a frothy French fantasy complete with angel wings.
The wine and conversation flows all afternoon.
The package includes $150 of dining credit and, unable to imagine anywhere more blissful than our postcard perch, we spend it on room service.
In-house restaurants T’ang Court and Akoya are tempting, but it doesn’t get more boujee than white-tableclothed fine dining in a robe.
The team put on a polished performance with full set up, pouring water, plumping couch cushions and lowering the lights so we can watch the whitecaps on the waves, glass doors thrown open.
The crab lasagne, crowned with crispy soft-shelled crab, is totally decadent – especially with a cheeky side of truffle fries.
Admittedly it’s a splurge, but there are plenty of cute touches beyond what we order, including blush-tinted tins of mints in Langham pink that now live in my handbag.
Tucked between Broadbeach and Surfers, the hotel is in a convenient spot for those who want to turn their girls’ night in to a girls’ night out.
But we’re in our herbal tea and a good book era, so take advantage of the turndown service to cap off our comfy set-up.
We explore a little more the next day.
With summer storms belting the hotel’s showpiece pool, we launch our lounging plan B at its indoor equivalent – a chic, heated affair that’s every bit as aesthetic.
Bookended by sessions in the sauna, it’s a relaxing way to spend a Sunday.
An impressively equipped gym is just next door, with ocean views that could convert anyone to exercise – except perhaps for us because we’ve got the buffet in mind.
We make a beeline for breakfast at Akoya – not included in this package, but a worthy add-on.
With another absolute beachfront vantage and a high level of personalisation, it’s the kind of buffet even the most ardent a la carte appreciator can get on-board with.
Our coffee order is included and taken as soon as we sit down, as is our preference for chef-made omelettes or eggs benedict.
I pile my plate with haloumi cubes drizzled in honey and delicate quiches before getting sidetracked by the French pastries – there are chouquettes!
A pink doughnut wall dispels any doubt we’re in the right place for a girly getaway.
It’s time for our Langham exit and it’s every bit as elegant as the entry, with one final sweep through the distinctively scented lobby (ginger flower, Google tells me when I can’t get it out of my head).
Unexpectedly for the premium beachfront location, self-parking in the hotel’s basement is free and easy.
The Ring for Rose package is available for stays until March 31. Go to langhamhotels.com for details. The writer was a guest of The Langham Gold Coast.
