TAMMY HEMBROW ENGAGED TO PARTNER MATT POOLE
Ms Hembrow said she was determined to have a vaginal birth after her first two caesareans because of potential health complications and longer recovery which were apparent in her first two births.
On Tuesday evening (WARNING: This may not be safe for work) Ms Hembrow shared an intimate video to her YouTube which took her 1.31m subscribers through her drug-free birth.
The video began with her arriving to the hospital with her partner and two sisters, Amy and Emilee Hembrow shortly after 11pm.
At 1.30am she began transitioning and 1.35am her body started pushing at 4cm dilated.
She said she felt like she wasn’t able to continue but persevered through. At 1.40am her midwife told her she was fully dilated and it was time.
“Baby’s heart rate was abnormal. She wanted out,” she said.
“They give me an episiotomy (a cut between the vagina and anus) and baby’s shoulder is stuck behind my pubic bone.”
At 1.55am Posy arrived.
Ms Hembrow said a few hours after birth she started haemorrhaging.
“It was quite scary and painful and I lost almost two litres of blood but the doctors got it under control in a few hours,” she said.
“Overall I'm so happy with the birth and so blessed baby girl is here and healthy.”
A week post birth Ms Hembrow shared an update to her 15.2m followers on Instagram saying she was still in her ‘baby bubble’.
“Feeling far from human right now but (I’m) soaking in every second,” she said.
“Her birth was a lot quicker and a lot more dramatic than we expected and I did have pretty severe post-partum haemorrhaging but I am so bless she arrived safely.
“I still had such an amazing experience that I'll never forget.
“Can’t say I want to do it again any time soon.
“Women are incredible.”
