‘I wore a vibrator at my wedding and my husband had the control’

This bride and groom’s risqué move on their wedding day was a different take on the “something new” tradition.

It can be easy to get caught up in the whirlwind experience of your own wedding, but one bride and groom found a way to savour the fun – by purchasing an app-controlled vibrator for the bride to wear for the whole day!

This is their story, as told to Body + Soul:

I remember my nan telling me in the days before my wedding: “Don’t forget something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. I did this on my wedding day and your Pa and I are still happily married 62 years later”.

But truth be told I am not one for tradition. I mean for starters I had two weddings – one in my home country of the U.S. where my family (and Nan) are based, and one in Australia where we live and where my husband’s family are.

For Nan though, I decided to honour her wishes with the something old, new, borrowed and blue at my first wedding but then proceeded to do something at my second wedding, that if she had found out about, she probably would have keeled over right then and there.

You see, in a very untraditional move, I wore a vibrator for the entire wedding and my husband had the control.

Our second wedding was relatively low key, more of a party really. After the first ceremony and reception in the US, we kept it simple and went to the registry office in Melbourne with just a handful of family members, and then held a reception afterwards for all of our Australian family and friends.

Because my husband and I were really ready by this point to just let loose and have a good time, he suggested in the month leading up to it that we have a bit of ‘fun’ of our own that nobody would know about.

When I asked him what he meant he suggested that I wear one of those discreet, mobile-controlled vibrators for the evening and that he would have the control over the settings.

My reaction was to laugh.

“Sure,” I said to him, not really thinking he was serious. But a few days before the event he proceeded to pull out of his work bag a freshly purchased vibrator for me to wear at our wedding reception.

After ensuring the sound level was actually discreet as it claimed, and it could be done without my new in-laws instantly regretting who their son had married, I agreed. This (after marrying my husband of course) was the best decision I made about our wedding day.

The vibrator Sam* purchased was a dual clitoris and G-spot device. The control was done by an app downloaded on his phone, which allowed him to increase and decrease the vibration intensity and the pattern by sliding his finger on the touchscreen. This meant Sam would often pretend to check his texts or take a photo but really instead he was managing the control of the device.

The actual experience started off pretty slow. In fact, there were points I had thought Sam had forgotten about it, or was too distracted by socialising or dancing. But then came the speeches. Although this wasn’t the most traditional of weddings, we still wanted to say a few words. So about two hours into the event, Sam got up to start the process. He gave his speech, my in-laws gave their joint welcome, and then it was my turn.

This is when Sam decided to increase his use of the device. At first it was subtle – enough so I could feel it and for me to stumble on my words as it was turned on unexpectedly, but not so intensely that I couldn’t regain my composure.

But as I got about midway into my speech Sam increased the intensity of the vibration. When this began I completely lost my place and began to wriggle around like I needed to desperately go to the toilet. There were a few strange looks as if people were wondering what I was doing – and then there was Sam’s face, smiling with a look in his eye as if he was enjoying this power very much.

Somehow, I managed to get through the remainder of my speech and once I had hopped down from the podium he switched the vibrations off again.

As the night went on and everyone had loosened up with the alcohol and the dancing, I felt the vibrator again. Sam was sitting with some of his mates drinking. As he spoke with his friends I saw his hand was in his pocket and the phone screen light shining through his pants as he moved his fingers on the screen controls.

For the last two hours he would do this sporadically, once he even went to the bathroom where he could really concentrate on what he was doing. This was the time where I nearly orgasmed in the middle of the dancefloor, literally surrounded by family and friends.

At the end of the night when we went back to our suite, despite being completely exhausted, that little extra ‘fun’ had made for the best foreplay of my life and made that other tradition of consummating the marriage very much achievable and very pleasurable too may I add!
