One of the Gold Coast’s most beloved bars has undergone a $250,000 revamp, including a custom made bar top imported from Italy — and a new cocktail and food menu.

THE jewel of House of Brews’ massive quarter of a million makeover is hard to miss.

The Surfers Paradise establishment has spent the past week gutting the boutique bar to completely redecorate — complete with a custom made bar top.

The rendered bar is the first of its kind in Australia with marmorino imported from Italy.

House of Brews owner Sacha Kanaghines said the material allowed them to put their own logo into the bar top.

He said as well as a new bar top, the kitchen had been updated, new furnishing placed throughout, lighting, the building waterproofed, a mural and cocktail and food menu updated.

“We wanted to move ahead,” Mr Kanaghines said.

“This is what we want to look like in 2019.”

The bar has kept the North American flavour it’s had since opening in June 2015.

Mr Kanaghines said the renovation was carefully timed to occur during the traditionally quiet Schoolies period.

The boutique venue has a “No Schoolies” policy in effect during the celebrations.

The bar serves up lavish cocktails and over 32 different types of beer, but has taken a new direction by focusing on Australian liquor.

Manager Iain McKie said over the last few years he has noticed the rise of Australian microdistilleries and wanted to incorporate it into the menu.

“When we first launched we really focused on boutique craft beer but now we are wanting to celebrate Australian spirits more,” Mr McKie said.

“There will be a new gin and tonic menu, new liquors, homemade sugar syrups … there’s a lot of new drinks.”

As part of the new drinks menu which is said to launch in two weeks time, Mr McKie said there will be a few surprises as they will be “like nothing else ever done before on the Gold Coast”.
