‘I’m ready’: Huge ‘fight’ as Kmart selling $529 item for $199

Customers are stretching limbs and budgets in preparation for battle in the aisles of stores.

Parents drowning in school notes, sports rosters and weekly schedules might soon be able to breathe a sigh of relief, with a new dupe of a cult-favourite smart calendar about to hit shelves.

Kmart is releasing its 15.6-inch Digital Family Calendar, priced at $199, with shoppers already comparing it to a similar product that retails for a lot more.

In contrast, the Skylight 15” Smart Family Calendar, retails for $529 – a massive $330 more expensive than the Kmart version.

The Skylight version is popular for its features that allow families to assign chores, meal prep, and stay across organised events, all while allowing it to sync to your phone.

Users are also able to unlock additional features with a subscription fee of $79 per year.

It’s a luxury item designed to remove clutter from the fridge door or kitchen bench.

And the chance to score a similar product during Kmart’s upcoming sale has sent many parents and families into a spin – especially those who can’t find wiggle room in the budget for the Skylight item.

The similarities and differences between the two are striking.

Both devices are touchscreen on a 15-inch display (although Kmart will grace you with an extra .6).

They both have their own app but also sync to external ones too, such as Google or iCloud, they both offer organisation tools and the ability to turn it into a digital picture frame. They are both able to be mounted onto a wall or stand upright.

However, Kmart’s version nudges ahead, with double the storage and a noticeable difference in price.

On TikTok, videos are popping up of the lucky few who have managed to get their hands on one early.

And comment sections have shown truly how desperate many are to secure the goods.

“I’m praying,” said one.

“I NEED THIS YESTERDAY,” agreed another.

As one declared: “I am ready to go to war.”

Others have made funny videos joking around about how they’re preparing.

One user shared a tongue-in-cheek clip with the caption: “Me warming up, getting ready to fight the rest of Australia for Kmart’s new Smart Family Planner.”

Another post a mother shared how she’s manifesting, adding it to cart with ease, writing: “just a mum contemplating replying to the sugar daddies to get money for the Kmart digital family calendar.”

“Check out thumbs activated,” a third jokes.

The device is set to hit stores 8am Thursday, so if you want to secure one, you need to be on the way to a store, basically, yesterday.

Some have resorted to signing up to the membership program OnePass just to gain early access to stock when it goes on sale tonight between 8pm and midnight exclusively to members.

Kmart is preparing for stock to fly off shelves given how popular it has been in the lead up to the drop.

Kmart is expecting many broken hearts as people go empty-handed without the limited edition item.

“Kmart’s 15.6″ Digital Family Calendar previewed as part of our Black Friday sneak peek is creating real buzz online before it even hits shelves. With mealtime planning, chore tracking and colour-coded schedules that sync with Google Calendar, Outlook and Apple iCloud, it streamlines daily life effortlessly,” a Kmart spokesperson told news.com.au.

“It’s built-in photo-frame functionality wraps everything into one stylish touchscreen unit, proving to be a must-have for households, and at just $199 we are expecting these to fly off the shelves.

“If you’re hoping to get your hands on one, we recommend you head in-store or online at 8am on Thursday when the product drops and get ready to snap one up.”
