Dyson launches V11 Outsize, a cordless vacuum for bigger homes

We’ve been fans of Dyson’s cordless vacs since they hit shelves in 2006, but after 14 years the British brand have finally fixed its major issue.

Shoppers line up for Aldi vacuum frenzy

What’s the one thing you wish your cordless Dyson vacuum had more of?

Maybe you’re after a longer battery life because your V6 dies before you’ve finished cleaning the house. Or maybe you need a bigger bin because your malting german shepherd’s dog hair fills it up quicker than Usain Bolt can sprint 100 metres.

Well, 14 years after first releasing the original handheld, Dyson has heard our gripes loud and clear and decided to solve our biggest problems.

The new Dyson V11 Outsize is a bigger version of the popular cordless vacuum range that sent everyone into a twist in 2006 when the DC16 machine launched.

Despite updating it regularly over the years, those with bigger homes or larger cleaning needs often complained it wasn’t as good as an original corded Dyson.

However, this shiny new homewares appliance may very well be the answer to all those issues.

The British brand have said it has given its latest whiz kid a 150 per cent larger bin, 25 per cent bigger cleaner head and a longer battery time which can run for up to 120 minutes.

It has upgraded the battery with a super-dooper click-in battery system that is more functional for bigger homes and larger cleans.

The brand is also stating it has almost double the suction power of the product that was previously hailed as its “most powerful”.

There’s also a whole bunch of other really technical sounding stuff that I don’t fully understand so I’m going to paste it in for you here now:

“It offers 40 per cent more suction power than the Dyson Cyclone V10TM vacuum thanks to a powerful Dyson Hyperdymium motor and 18 Dyson cyclones which generate forces of more than 79,000g to fling microscopic particles – such as pollen, dust and bacteria – into the bin,” Dyson has said.

“The machine’s fully-sealed filtration system traps 99.97 per cent of particles as small as 0.3 microns and Dyson’s DLS technology intelligently optimises cleaning and runtime according to floor type.”

Sounds good though, right?

We’re not even at the best bit yet, the LCD screen that tells you important information in real-time, like when the battery is running low, when the tubes are blocked and when it’s time to empty the bin.

The screen also reminds users when to clean filters for “optimum” performance, but that’s probably one feature we’re all going to avoid as long as possible as who can really bothered to clean their filters regularly? Still, it’s pretty neat to know.

Some smarty pants at Dyson has even thought about our wellbeing, adding a “fully sealed filtration system” that captures 99 per cent of dust particles for cleaner air.

If you’re already salivating at the bit over the sound of this – we’re not judging – you can take home the Dyson V11 OutsizeTM cord-free vacuum from today for a cool $1299, but that’s only if red tickles your fancy. If you’re more of a gold fan it’ll set you back $1349. That metallic paint must be expensive!

It’s not the first exciting new launch for the tech brand this month, with Dyson unveiling its latest beauty product – the Corrale, a cordless hair straightener.

The first of its kind hair tool is not available to buy in Australia until April 24 and is priced at $699. Looks like it’s going to be an expensive pay cycle.
