WA records seven new local Covid cases

Western Australia has recorded seven new local Covid cases, with the source of two of them under investigation.

WA is at risk 'being left behind'

Western Australia has reported seven new local Covid cases and four travel-related cases on Saturday.

Five of the seven local cases are known contacts of previously reported cases, one who was potentially infectious in the community, WA Health said.

The two other local cases are from different households and have not been directly linked to any previous cases.

Their source is being investigated.

All cases are in self-quarantine now and will be monitored by public health officials.

Health officials are also closely monitoring two vessels off the WA coast, after both reported probable Covid cases on board via returned positive rapid antigen tests.

All positive crew members on board the vessels are isolating in their cabins and being monitored safely, authorities said.

There are now 78 confirmed active cases in WA.

Of these, 27 are in hotel quarantine, 51 are in self-quarantine. No cases are currently in hospital.

Contact tracers are working to identify potential exposure sites linked to the new cases.

People are being urged to check the exposure sites on the HealthyWA website for updates.

Anyone in the Perth, Peel and the South West regions experiencing symptoms is urged to get tested immediately and isolate until they receive a negative result.

The total number of Covid cases WA has had is now 1359.
