Rebel Wilson reveals ‘simple’ way she lost more than 30kg

Actress Rebel Wilson has revealed the easy method she used to get healthier, saying she “didn’t need” to smash herself at the gym.

Rebel Wilson’s sad weight loss revelation

Rebel Wilson has lost more than 30kg since she began her “year of health” back in 2020.

But while she’s completely overhauled her fitness levels in her quest to become healthier, the Hollywood actress has revealed gruelling workouts were not the secret to her success.

Instead, she turned to a “simple solution” – walking.

Speaking on an episode of “Time to Walk” by Apple Fitness+, the 41-year-old said she was advised by a doctor at a health retreat it was “the best way” for her to become healthier.

So that’s exactly what Rebel did, taking up walking for at least an hour a day.

“The doctor said to me, ‘Rebel, the best way for you to lose unwanted body fat is just simply walking,” she said.

“’Doesn’t have to be high-intensity, doesn’t have to be uphill, just moderate walking an hour a day. And if you can do that, for you, for your body type, it’s, like, the best way to lose unwanted body fat.’”

The Pitch Perfect star said she found it “interesting” to be at a renowned health retreat, surrounded by the “best hi-tech” equipment, only to be told to do something so easily accessible.

“I found that really comforting because it was, like, a simple solution to something that I thought a lot about before,” she said.

“I would train at the gym, you know even when I was at my heaviest, like hardcore and do weights and do things where you just feel absolutely exhausted afterwards, and I didn’t actually need to be doing that.

“Like, it’s great to do that if you’re working for a particular, like, cardiovascular goal, but my goal was just to get healthier and to lose the body fat that my body didn’t actually need and want.”

After realising she could “take it a bit easier” on herself, Rebel said she began to lose weight “very, very gradually”.

“Sometimes I kicked up things a notch with some workouts and went hard, but the majority of the work for the year was just doing things like walking for an hour and just getting out there every day.

“I would normally have Sundays off as a rest day but just doing that and then not feeling bad about it, like, knowing that just that was something that I could do that was kind for myself.”

The Australian actress went on to explain she was sharing the anecdote to help people who “beat themselves up”, adding consistency was the key.

“I think a lot of us have made the mistake of like, ‘I want to fit into that dress for a wedding,’ or something. And then they’ve gone and run five miles in a day and then can’t walk the next day,” she said. “That doesn’t help anybody.”

Recently, Rebel has been sharing photos of her weight loss on social media, where many fans have been commenting on her success.

“You look amazing,” one wrote on a photo of her at a New Year’s Eve party.

“Looking better then any model,” another agreed.

The star previously said she followed the Mayr Method – where you focus on chewing food and eating slowly – in order to achieve her drastic weight loss.
