A young Sydney woman who “didn’t believe in Covid” has since documented her experience online after contracting the virus.

Katie Puffet shared footage on TikTok a week ago, branding herself “silly” for thinking “Covid was fake”.

She told followers she would “never get it” as she didn’t believe “it was a thing”.

However, the young woman later revealed she was rushed to hospital with “horrible” symptoms after contracting the virus.

“Been to Campbelltown Hospital, then to hotel quarantine and now Royal North Shore Hospital,” she said in a separate video on Sunday.

She explained how her symptoms were more serious than others who tested positive in her family.

“Personally my symptoms are pretty bad, although my mum and friends have said they’re not bad at all. I guess everyone’s bodies react differently,” she told a TikTok user.

Katie, who posted footage from her hospital bed, detailed how her time was spent managing headaches, sore eyes, coughing, body pain, difficulty breathing and pain when taking deep breaths.

“I’m all right, very nauseous, hurts to breathe and can’t stand up without needing to faint but I’ll be OK,” Katie told another follower who asked how she was feeling.

She also explained her blood pressure has been very low.

“It has reached about 104 but other than that below 100. Doesn’t feel good,” she said in the comments section.

The young woman said she felt unwell for three days before testing positive to Covid, adding: “It hit me like a train!”

She said she was “unfortunately” not vaccinated and was told she won’t be able to get the jab now for another three months.

Her latest video includes a number of short clips and images of herself in hospital beds, being transported in ambulances, and of the medical instruments recording her vitals.

“I’m not going to sugar-coat it. For me, it has been horrible,” she said about the virus.

Katie, who is currently at Royal North Shore Hospital, is unable to step foot out of her room due to the high risk of transmission.

Her videos have been flooded with comments from people wishing her a speedy recovery – while others questioned why she believed Covid was “fake”.

“Oh no – all the best on your recovery,” one TikTok user wrote.

“Wishing you all the strength to get through this. Thank you for sharing and spreading awareness,” said another, while a third added: “Continue sharing your story if you can; lots of people think Covid-19 won’t affect them.”
