Grace Tame has made a stunning appearance at a celebration for Witchery’s White Shirt Campaign in Sydney.

2023 marks the 15th anniversary of the Australian retailer’s annual campaign in partnership – one that’s been ongoing for more than 20 years – with the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF).

The author and former Australian of the Year paired this year’s shirt – designed in collaboration with P.E Nation co-founder Pip Edwards – with a black blazer and pinstriped trousers.

Witchery’s White Shirt Campaign has been the largest funder of ovarian cancer research in Australia, raising over $15 million since its inception in 2008.

The much-needed funds go towards developing a lifesaving, early detection test and more effective treatments for the disease, which around 1800 Australian women are diagnosed with each year. 100 per cent of the gross proceeds from every White Shirt sold are donated directly to the OCRF.

Speaking to news.com.au ahead of the event, Edwards said she was “just so honoured to have been chosen to be the designer” of this year’s shirt, having been “an admirer of all the previous campaigns”.

Not only does Edwards want anyone who wears her shirt to feel “strong and empowered knowing there is an incredible purpose behind the purchase”, but she also hopes for it to be a conversation starter.

The mother-of-one – who recently revealed she went through early menopause – is passionate about making women aware and empowered about their own reproductive health.

“Fitness is one thing, but reproductive health is paramount. That’s the conversation that’s lacking,” she said.

“I feel I have a strong female voice and I have my own experience around reproductive health hitting early menopause … I think it’s great to have a real, honest conversation, and I think more real, honest conversation is needed.”

While Edwards doesn’t suggest early menopause leads to cancer, she hopes women will break taboos and have more conversations about their wellness.

“You can look at my body and we can talk about fitness and exercise, but it means nothing,” she recently told Stellar.

“I wish I knew more about female health before my diagnosis. I simply didn’t make it a priority. Honestly, I do have regret around my unawareness, but unlike so many other women, my diagnosis was not ovarian cancer. This, however, was my wake-up call.”
