But that did not stop the owners of Moxy’s Rooftop, the city’s newest top storey playground, from having a little anxiety ahead of the bar’s opening at Coolangatta.
“We didn’t really know how it would go. In Burleigh the rooftop bar has been done, but we don’t really have a feel for the demographic down here,” Moxy’s co-owner Kane Brigg said.

Moxy’s Rooftop Bar is open Thursday to Sunday in Griffith St, serving up ocean glimpses and a list of signature cocktails.
“We employed a guy to do a signature cocktail list for us. We have 12 cocktails specifically designed for Moxy’s. They’re all vegan friendly as well,” Mr Brigg said.
“We’ve got a really good whiskey sour. What we do is we infuse our alcohol 24 hours before we open. There’s a lot prep that goes into making the cocktails.

“From Friday to Sunday, in the afternoon as soon as the sun drops it’s such a good vibe up there.”
The new bar is looking forward to a summer bringing the party vibes, including hosting its first Australia Day celebration later this month.
“We’re planning an Australia Day party where we’ll switch the taps over to Australian beers all day,” Mr Brigg said.
