Italian eatery Salt Meats Cheese is among the Gold Coast restaurants forced to go takeaway only after stiff restrictions on hospitality came into place to curb the threat of coronavirus.

However, the team have been working on their takeaway menu for customers to have the full experience at home, and that includes its famous pasta in a wheel of brie.

“At the moment say the ‘show must go home’,” Salt Meats Cheese owner Ale Vicinanza said.

“We are famous for our cheese wheel, now we do a wheel brie pasta delivered at home — one kilo brie with portion for two people, with spaghetti inside the wheel. This week it’s been very popular.”

IS THIS THE GOLD COAST’S FANCIEST DRIVE THROUGH?

Salt Meats Cheese has launched its own app to assist diners in getting their hands on the restaurant group’s decadent menu, and also takes orders via UberEats and Deliveroo.

The restaurant itself will deliver orders from Main Beach to Mermaid Beach for a small fee.

“Every week we do specials, we try to do some nice family bundle,” Mr Vicinanza said.

“Just pop in with your phone and order through the app, that’s what we’re trying to do at the moment.

“We can even deliver or sell alcohol as well. They changed the licence for the situation. So we’re doing pizza and beer for $19.

“We do specials for pizza and drinks, and everything for a really nice price. We try to do business as usual. It’s hard at the moment, so far we’re lucky. We’re seeing a lot of regulars ordering with us.”
