THE Gold Coast’s only inflatable water park has gained a worldwide audience after one of Australia’s leading airlines posted online about how much of a splashing good time it was.

Just over a month ago a video of Southport’s AquaSplash was posted on Qantas’ Facebook page.

It has since been viewed 2.6 million and had 2004 shares and 7500 comments.

“Get ready to bounce, splash and slide into summer,” the Qantas post read on November 24, 2017.

AquaSplash business development manager Matthew Devine said they were “very excited” to have been promoted by the airline company.

Mr Devine said he hoped the online love would translate into more visitors coming to the Gold Coast.

“It is an affordable fun activity,” he said of the Broadwater Parklands attraction.

“We are bringing families together, getting them active and out enjoying the sunshine.”

This is AquaSplash’s fifth season since opening in 2013.

The season runs from the September school holidays to after Easter and 65 staff are employed at AquaSplash.

“We have seen consistent growth,” Mr Devine said.

This month has seen about 1600 visitors a day take on the wet and wild challenge.

“By the end of this season we will have had approximately 500,000 visitors (since 2013),” Mr Devine said.

He said another 300,000 onlookers had come to the stretch of beach to watch their loved ones on the course too during this time.

“ ... For every ‘splasher’ we have 1.2 to 1.5 people coming to the southern end of the Broadwater Parklands precinct,” Mr Devine said.

Southport’s AquaSplash was the first open water fun park in Australia and takes up more than 7000sq m in the Broadwater parallel to Marine Pde.

It has had its fair share of celebrity guests with the most recent ones being songstress Kate Ceberano and sportswoman Emily Seebohm who both visited last week.
