GOLD Coast fitness queen Ashy Bines has gone on a self-imposed social media blackout amid a tirade of hate following a parking fail that made headlines across the country yesterday.

Bines’ husband Steven Evans today commented on Facebook ‘no one deserved to be bullied like this’ after his wife copped threats of physical violence including ‘having her head smashed in by a golf club’.

“Ashy will be offline for next 48 hours whilst I spoil her rotten and enjoy the next 2 days and wait for storm to blow over,” he wrote to a follower.

Bines, who was caught out by her own YouTube video which showed her parking her white Range Rover in a disabled space outside her Mermaid Beach gym, has not appeared on her social media accounts since yesterday.

Her only activity was to post a picture of a ‘Are You OK Day’ key tag on Snapchat midmorning.

She drew a tirade of criticism after she admitted on Snapchat to regularly parking in a disabled parking space outside her gym, attempting to justify the move because “we have no members with any disabilities”.

Before her social media blackout, she closed comments on her Instagram and explained on Snapchat the level of hate she was facing.

‘I’ve woken up to comments from people saying they hope the headline news is that I’ve been hit by a bus or that my head’s been smashed in by a golf club,” she said on the video app.

“Some of the comments that have come through involve my son and harming him or hoping something happens to him. It's gone too far.

“It’s totally unnecessary and I just don’t want any of those comments on my social media. It’s not nice for anyone to read, I don’t want to read it and I don’t want my followers having to defend me and getting into arguments with other people.”

Among the hate were comments hoping something happened to her son.

Bines usually records dozens of Snapchats a day but it has been radio silence on that platform along with her Facebook and Instagram, except for a promotional video which went up on her Instagram story this morning before being quickly deleted.

Her parking fails have continued to unravel today with a Gold Coast Bulletin reader this morning sending in a photo of Bines’ Range Rover parked over a yellow line.

While many have been quick to criticise, Bines’ army of fans have jumped to her defence.

“What these bullies are doing is actually more illegal then (sic) what Ashy did! A parking spot wether (sic) marked or not, is only a guideline and a courtesy spot not a law ... stay strong Ashy, enjoy black out time with your family,” one fan wrote on her Squad forum.

Shine Lawyers’ Defamation Solicitor Peter Coggins warned people should be mindful about what they post and comment on social media.

“They should be particularly careful about what they say in relation to those whose income is derived from social media channels like Ashy Bines,” he said.

“The Rebel Wilson case highlights the ability for significant damages to be awarded where defamatory comments can be linked to career damage.”

“We have strong national defamation laws in Australia. Remember that posting online is a form of publishing, and should you identify someone in your post and make comments about them or their views which are disparaging or subject them to ridicule and contempt, then you may be sued for defamation and have to pay that person damages.”

“You can’t “troll” or stalk anyone online either. It is a Commonwealth offence to use a carriage service to menace, harass or offend someone. The offence carries a maximum penalty of three years imprisonment or a fine of more than $30,000, and there have been successful prosecutions.”
