A NEW SECONDARY school will be built just metres away from one of the Gold Coast’s major sporting stadiums under plans ticked off today.
The private education facility will be operated by Arcadia College and will have capacity for 300 students across its campus.
2018 GOLD COAST NAPLAN RESULTS
The school, earmarked for a site on Centreline Place near Cbus Stadium, was approved today by the council’s planning committee and will go before a full council meeting on Friday to be ticked off.
If rubber stamped then, construction will begin in coming months to be completed in 2019.
“This will cost ratepayers nothing but will deliver lasting social benefit for those students doing it tough in life,’’ Mayor Tom Tate said.

“I also encourage the universities, teacher graduates and others in the education sector to see how they can get involved to help this facility.
“One thing I know is that on the Gold Coast, we don’t leave anyone behind.’’
The college charter is for a co-ed secondary school which will offer ‘a safe, inclusive and future focused education and wellbeing program’.
Arcadia College is currently based at Varsity Lakes and works with students who have faced personal hardship.
