A SOUTHERN Gold Coast cafe popular with families has suddenly closed, citing “road work and rain” as two of the major reasons for ceasing trade.

Currumbin Waters cafe Neighbourhood Espresso posted a photo on its Facebook page this morning of a printed sign on its door, stating the cafe will not be reopening.

“Due to road work, rain and a few other factors, we are unable to reopen Neighbourhood Espresso at this time,” the sign read.

“We will endeavour to re-establish the cafe in the future.”

A phone number in the sign directs callers to the Currumbin RSL.
