IT helped spark the Coast’s obsession with American dining, now Tribeca NYC is taking the trend into new territory.
Brothers Brandon and Shannon Pollard, along with their mother Carol Thompson, have launched a breakfast menu almost as big as the bright-light city that inspired it.
It covers everything from fruit-topped acai bowls to plates groaning under piles of crispy American bacon and cheeky bagels.
“We’ve added more than 10 items — including a Nutella banana bagel — that reflect the current breakfast trend in New York City and the exciting thing is that this is just the beginning of a major change here,” Brandon says.
“Only at Tribeca NYC will you be able to say you’ve had a taste of the J Lo club bagel.”
If you’re fresh from the doona, take your time adjusting with a strong Americano (bonus baby Oreo on the side) in the restaurant’s moodily lit recesses.
The table settings also spill out on to the sunny sidewalk for those in the mood to be more social.
The team have done a good job in balancing the full-flavoured, full-fat spirit of their themed fare, with the GC health prerogative.
Buckwheat’s Saddle Blankets ($14), heaped with blueberries, maple syrup and ice cream, are an example — the big, light pancakes are made with buckwheat so gluten-free diners can get in on the action too.
The refreshment list also walks the naughty-nice line, jumping from root beer floats and soda pops to probiotic super drink buchi kombucha.
The brunch bunch will be happy to see the bloody mary bar, available after 10am.
