Gold Coast breakfast review: BMD Northcliffe Surf Club

IT’S not just about the great, hearty food but the sweeping morning views across the beach at this Gold Coast classic.

It’s not too shabby a view for breakfast from BMD Northcliffe Surf Club.

AS far as breakfast views go, the ones that come with just about every dining spot at the Northcliffe Surf Club are up there.

You can take a seat outside if you wish or at one of the many windowside tables to take in a large, stretch of Surfers Paradise beach, the rolling breakers and depending on how early you arrive, enthusiastic nippers being put through their paces.

But it’s not only a spectacular vista they are serving up at the club — the tucker isn’t too bad either.

As a member and regular — and creature of habit — I almost always find it difficult to go past the satisfying Breakfast Burger.

And trust me — it looks and tastes as good as it sounds: grilled bacon, fried egg, a Roma tomato, smashed avocado, melted cheese and chipotle mayonnaise.

It all comes served on a toasted bun as soft as a pillow.

The bun and its texture can make or break this kind of combination and the one at the surf club is spot on.

Wash it down with a large mug of piping hot flat white as you mull over newspapers from the healthy stack they always have at the bar on entry — and then afterwards try to avoid heading in that direction toward the brewery fresh Carlton Draught taps.
