The Gold Coast’s newest McDonald’s is expected to serve its first Big Macs, fries and other famous fare before the end of the year.
The new Helensvale South outlet is rapidly taking shape on a Discovery Drive site near the Gold Coast Highway that was previously home to an ageing BP service station.
The restaurant will be operated by licensee Jonathan Pitt, who already runs McDonald’s outlets in Ashmore, Benowa, Broadbeach, Helensvale, Mermaid Waters, Merrimac, Pacific Fair and Southport.
“We are excited to start construction on a new restaurant in the Gold Coast and create 80 construction jobs, as well as a further 100 operational jobs once the restaurant opens, Mr Pitt said.
“McDonald’s Helensvale South is committed to playing an active role in the local community through providing jobs, training and development opportunities, as well as supporting local causes and groups that are important to our customers and people.
“We look forward to serving up our great tasting, great quality menu once the restaurant opens later this year.”
McDonald’s said its new Helensvale South outlet would include a dual lane drive through facility, McCafé and a playground for the little ones.
It is one of two new drive through developments in the area, with the Gold Coast’s first Banjo’s Bakery due to open on Helensvale Rd in October.
The fast food giant is currently hiring a variety of crew, barista, management and maintenance roles for restaurants across the Gold Coast. Anyone interested in applying for the roles can do so here.
