A woman has been caught on camera appearing to commit a shocking act on a table at a Nando’s restaurant in Sydney.

A woman has been caught on camera allegedly appearing to take a ten-year-old girl’s unattended handbag which was momentarily left on a table at a Nando’s restaurant in Sydney.

A woman has been caught on CCTV allegedly stealing a ten-year-old’s handbag inside a Westfield fast food restaurant in Sydney’s west.

The footage, posted to Facebook by the girl’s aunt, shows the woman looking around before taking the handbag off a table inside the Nando’s restaurant in Penrith.

The girl’s aunt said her niece momentarily left her Sportsgirl bag on the table and “burst into tears” when she returned to find it had gone.

The family obtained the footage from the fast food outlet.

“The bag had over $100 in cash, a few cosmetic items and a very sentimental gift from her Dad,” she wrote.

“If anyone recognises her or has any information before we give [the footage] to the police please reach out.

“We would just like the bag back especially the gift from her Dad.”

In the video, the woman walks into Nandos with two bags and what appears to be a smoothie.

She places her two bags down on a seat near the door and walks around the restaurant.

She then picks up her two shopping bags and walks over to the table where the girl’s handbag is sitting.

She appears to do a quick look around before placing the Sportsgirl bag into one of her shopping bags, walking over to the other side of the restaurant and sitting down at a different table.

The girl’s aunt told news.com.au she contacted centre management and the bag had not been handed in.

Many commented on the fact the woman sat down at the other side of the restaurant instead of immediately leaving.

“I hope she is found,” one commenter said.

NSW Police have been contacted for comment.
