WHEN Margot Robbie posted this pre-wedding photo of herself drinking a delightful pink beverage, we had to know what it was.

STEP aside frosé, there’s a new beverage in town.

When Aussie actress Margot Robbie posted this photo on Instagram, we immediately wanted to know what on earth was in that delightful-looking pink drink?

The 26-year-old married her partner Tom Ackerley in Byron Bay on Monday, but caught up with friends and family in Queensland on the weekend.

She stopped into Gold Coast cafe Bam Bam Bakehouse and smashed a couple of gin and tonics made from Ink Gin, an $80 boutique gin produced in the NSW Tweed Valley.

This Instagram photo clocked up a casual one million likes and has already done wonders for Husk Distillers, the family-owned distillery which produces Ink Gin.

Owner Paul Messenger told news.com.au the gin is actually dark blue and gets its natural colour from a blue flower.

“There are already heaps of gins on the market and we didn’t want to make just another gin,” Mr Messenger said.

“We found this flower called the butterfly pea flower. It’s a blue flower and it’s what we call an acid base regulator. The gin on its own is blue and it can look purple depending on the light.

“But it changes colour when you mix it with anything that’s acidic, and tonic water is acidic. So when you make a classic gin and tonic, it changes the pH levels in the drink, which changes the colour to pink. It’s all natural, all 100 per cent done by this amazing flower.”

If you made a gin martini with gin and vermouth shaken with ice, the martini would turn out blue.

Mr Messenger says Ink Gin has already sold out online and at Dan Murphy’s since Robbie posted that photo three days ago.

Gold Coast cafe Bam Bam Bakehouse, which served Robbie the gin and tonic, has become a popular celeb hangout. Hugh Jackman and Cody Simpson have also been spotted tucking into breakfast there.

Owner Ursula Watts runs the cafe with her husband Ben and says she is “thrilled” that Robbie comes back when she returns home to the Gold Coast.

Margot and her friends were such a pleasure to have,” Mrs Watts told news.com.au.

“We love what we do — making quality, delicious food from the best local produce. We love seeing people coming together to enjoy our food. That’s what we are all about.”
