WALKING Gold Coast social media billboard Tammy Hembrow has harnessed her star power to help her Ironman partner’s Mediterranean restaurant thrive in the Covid-19 crisis.
Matt Poole opened Maman Bar & Kitchen a year ago on James St at Burleigh Heads with The Grass Is Greener Festival founder Oli Frost.
The eatery has gone from strength to strength, no doubt bolstered by some of Ms Hembrow’s 13 million-plus social media followers.
Maman has hosted big names including musician-turned-aspiring swimmer Cody Simpson, Kiwi actor Sam Neill, the Gold Coast’s DJ Paul Fisher, recalled Wallabies star Quade Cooper and ex-Titan Nate Myles.
Asked how she helped promote the venue, her family’s “second home”, Ms Hembrow simply said: “Pretty much just by coming in and eating the food, taste testing and posting stories and stuff on our (social) media.
“It’s beautiful and the food is amazing so it really just markets itself.”
Mr Poole said surviving lockdowns was “challenging” but residents “support each other” in tough times.
