A new item has been announced at a popular fast food chain after it was tested at a handful of stores.
KFC menus will now feature Zinger Nachos across Australia for the first time from February 25. The item features corn chips, a Zinger fillet, guacamole and tomato salsa, as well as nacho cheese sauce on top.
The item is only available until March 24. It can be purchased as a stand alone item or as part of a combo with chips and a drink.
A Nacho Twister will also be available for purchase.
“We always get excited about bringing Aussies new and innovative flavour combinations, which is why we’re thrilled to bring our customers the Zinger Nachos across the country for the first time,” Sally Spriggs, KFC Australia’s group marketing director, said.
“The perfect pairing of our iconic Zinger fillet with fresh Mexican ingredients, we’re certain it will hit the spot for KFC fans.”
It’s not the first time KFC has featured corn chips on its menu, having the Zinger Crunch available last year. But, it’s also not the first time Zinger Nachos have even been on the menu.
Popular food content creator Russ Eats shared a clip of himself trying the food for the first time last year after it was part of a limited release in Newcastle.
“It’s a seven out of 10. The good thing is the guac and the tomato is a match made in heaven with the KFC,” he said.
“And I love the Zinger fillet but Popcorn Chicken would have been easier to eat. And I feel like there’s a few too many chips compared to the rest of it.”
A KFC spokesperson confirmed to news.com.au that corn chips had been on the menu before — and even in nacho form.
“What’s not to love about corn chips? Their satisfying crunch, their moreish flavour, their perfect harmony with Zinger fillets, salsa, nacho cheese and guac,” the spokesperson said. “Aussies know we never miss an opportunity to experiment with our iconic KFC flavours to keep up with fans’ changing tastes and preferences, so we knew there was no better time to unleash our Zinger Nachos unto the world.
“Eagle-eyed fans may know that we tested our Zinger Nachos last year and boy did they go down a treat, so this delicious fork-free feed is dropping nationwide for the first time ever.”
