Kmart has set the internet alight with a new addition to its kitchenware aisle that shoppers have declared is the item they “didn’t know we needed”.

The budget retailer recently released a pack of four “chip clips” which are designed to reseal open packets of the savory treat.

As well as being very handy, the $1.75 product is also super cute, as the clips look like two popular varieties of chips: crinkle cut and the tortilla variety.

Mark Polchleb, a Melbourne-based content creator, shared the new Kmart addition on TikTok – stating it was the homewares item they “didn’t know I needed”.

“If there’s one thing you grab from Kmart’s latest drop, let it be these chip clips.” Mark states. “They look exactly like crisps and corn chips.

“You clip them like you would pegs to your unfinished bag of chips. While they’re probably not a need, has sealing chips ever looked as cute?”

The video quickly blew up, with many declaring they also “need” the item, as others pondered: “Who has an unfinished bag of chips?”

“Ummmm, Kmart Australia am coming for you. I need these,” one delighted viewer said.

“Always use pegs but these are great,” another remarked.

“I feel like those would end up in my mouth,” someone else said, noting their likeness to the real product.

Many joked there were never any chips leftover in their homes.

“My chips don’t last that long,” one stated.

“Amateur I finish the chips first 10 minutes of opening,” someone else teased.

As one remarked: “What do you mean by ‘unfinished’ bag? What is that? There’s unopened bags and finished bags but what is ‘unfinished’?”

Others shared their disappointment the chip clips weren’t suitable for hair, while some pointed out Mark called the crinkle cut design “crisps”.

“Crisps? This ain’t the UK mate, it’s chips,” one said.

“How dare you say crisps in ‘straya,” another chimed in.

The video has been viewed almost one million times since it was shared on Friday, proving just how popular the new Kmart item is among Aussies.

Kmart describes the item on its website as ideal to “keep your snacks and other food items properly sealed”.

It was among an array of new items in the brand’s Home and Living range which just dropped, including a range of $15 mini kitchen appliances that features a waffle maker, grill press and multicooker.

A series of nifty storage devices have also been added, such as an undershelf basket and cloth holder that go inside kitchen cupboards.
