There is nothing worse than being skimped on fries when getting takeaway – but one burger joint popularised in the US has taken the complete opposite approach.

Five Guys is known for its burgers and hot dogs, but social media is flooded with videos of people ordering a small chips.

Social media users then film themselves tipping the bag to reveal a flood of chips falling out.

The Five Guys UK website has revealed exactly why they pop in the extra fries – and it all comes down to an incredibly simple reason.

“We always add an ‘extra scoop’ of fries in the bag as we believe in generosity,” the website stated.

“We suggest sharing the fries if you are visiting with other people. We recommend that the serving size for one Little portion is between one to two people, and for a Large portion is between three to four people, although it’s up to you!”

The Australian website for Five Guys confirms that the Aussie version also adds an extra scoop, but doesn’t reveal the reason why.

Social media users have long since speculated why there are extra fries in the bottom of the bag.

“I got a large not knowing … I could have filled the “large cup” at least eight times with the fries from the bag,” one social media user said.
