A new retailer had jumped on a food trend, with one food content creator saying he drove around “half of Adelaide” to find the product.

Kmart released six items in its freeze dried candy collection this week. It included Sour Worms, Rainbow Bites, Cola Bottles, Strawberries, Bananas and Marshmallow Twists.

Each packet retails for $3.

Food content creator @michaeljaimie said the lollies “better be worth it” after driving around half of Adelaide to find them.

“I think I am going to hate the Strawberries the most, so I will start with those first,” he said.

“Okay. I’m being a little dramatic. They’re not that bad. For a freeze dried candy, they’re really dense.

“Sometimes they’re really light and fluffy. That’s actually a good thing. These taste like a generic Strawberry.”

He then tried the Bananas, saying there was a sour tinge to them, but wasn’t a fan of them. He then tried the Rainbow Bites, which he declared “the best” out of the three he tried.

Another content creator, @cyansocial, also tried. She said to “forget” the Strawberries and Bananas, but the Rainbow Bites, Cola Bottles and Sour Worms were worth the hype.

Indi Miles, also known as @romiietan, was also a massive fan of the Sour Worms.

“Kmart has embraced this trend, offering a wide range of freeze-dried fruit lollies that make it easy to enjoy this exciting snack at home. These affordable and extreme value treats are irresistibly light, ultra-crunchy, and packed with a bold punch of tangy-sweet goodness,” a Kmart spokesperson told news.com.au.

“Freeze-dried lollies have become a viral snack trend, known for their intense flavours and unique crunchy texture. Popular on social media, these treats offer a fun twist on traditional sweat treats. With their portability, they’re perfect for on-the-go snacking.”

Kmart isn’t the only retailer to embrace the trend, with Coles releasing its range last week.

Popular food content creator JordsEats went to five different Coles before finding the confectionary item.

“They smell really good, I’m a bit scared,” he said.

After taking a bite he declared the lollies were “a bit sour but good”.

“They remind me of a Skittle but extra sour and freeze dried,” the content creator said, adding they were “very addictive”.

A Coles spokesperson told news.com.au that the confectionary item had become an instant success among customers.

“Our customers have really ‘chilled out’ with our Freeze-Dried Rainbow Crunch new line of lollies, which launched only this week and has since become our best-selling Coles branded confectionary product already,” a Coles spokesperson said.
